Boruto's Kawaki Has One Trait in Common With All of Naruto's Greatest Villains

Even though Boruto was always about the introduction of a brand new set of shinobi into a brand new audience Like any sequel, there are certain aspects that must be kept if the creator Masashi Kishimoto Masashi Kishimoto is keen to maintain thematic consistency to the previous show, Naruto. The case in point is that Kawaki's determination to protect the seventh Hokage from harm is an example of the recurring character traits of Naruto that is never a good thing for either the character or for the whole people in the community.

Nearly immediately following the meeting with Naruto during the beginning of the Borutosaga, Kawaki liked Naruto, who was the Seventh Hokage. His affection for him as well as his desire to protect other people was a trait Kawaki did not experience or witness in his years being as a part of the Kara Association. The admiration he had for Naruto was confirmed after the senior Uzumaki accepted him into his house as if he were a son of his own. These feelings were accentuated by the time Naruto took on his own life in order to save his friend from the gun battle with Isshiki Otsutsuki.

The more affection Naruto gave to Kawaki and the more fascinated he was by Naruto. In time, Kawaki's admiration grew to the need to shield Kawaki from damage that may occur to him. After Momoshiki revived Boruto and as a result, transformed Boruto more like Otsutsuki rather in comparison to Uzumaki, Kawaki's protective tendencies turned to an obsession. The obsession drove the character to take Naruto as well as Hinata into another realm and convincing Eida of unleashing Omnipotence as well as make Boruto as a threat to the world. This is also an obsession that is likely to cause the demise of Konoha according to the start of the story.

The Best Naruto Villains
 All Share Obsessive Tendencies

Kawaki's actions are not unique within the Naruto-Verse. In fact, he's the final to be in the group of characters who's obsessive-compulsive behaviors have caused chaos, war, and even death to their families. The line goes all the way from the very beginning, with Kaguya Otsutsuki. After years of living in the role of a de facto God and Earth's only source of Chakra this power that provided her with the spiritual power she desired, she had two sons: Hagoromo as well as Hamura. Even though they were sons of hers they were unhappy that she had not given to them none or any Chakra and began to be determined to get the entire "her" Chakra back.

Following Kaguya it was Madara Uchiha whose desire for peace in the world resulted in the creation of Konoha Village with Hashirama Senju However they later differed over the best method to create peace Madara's zeal resulted in a violent confrontation that ended with the latter's "death" but also put in place a long-running plan which enslaved a child and killed numerous shinobi and, in the process, helped facilitate the reemergence of Kaguya Otsutsuki, who is still in pursuit of getting her Chakra returned.

The person that Madara's delusion led to corruption was not a different person than Obito Uchiha, also known as Tobi who invented his own version of Madara's dream for peace throughout the world. This was founded on his reaction to the deaths of friends he had met in the Third Shinobi World War. It was actually Obito's passion that caused an eventual Fourth Shinobi World War.

Kawaki Is Heading Down a Well-Worn Path

All of the main Naruto characters have been victims of their addictions. The obsession of pain with peace was at the very least an aspiration to be hopeful however, it quickly turned into a shambles and the end of life. Orochimaru's desire for immortality stems out of a deeper, more self-centered, state of mind, just as Kaguya's desire for strength. Whatever the source they come from, it's evident that, in the Naruto-Verse the obsessions are more likely to be more destructive and painful rather than doing well.

Kawaki's zeal to protect Naruto isn't malicious. It's only natural Kawaki would want to safeguard those he loves. But, like others who have suffered from the same fate Kawaki's ambitions have adversely affected the entire world. He is now in a state of ignorance about the effects of his deeds He doesn't even consider the people are hurt and the feelings of the person who is his intense desire, Naruto, who would surely disagree with his choices.

However, it is clear that even if Kawaki's transition to villainy was a bit unexpected, and possibly unintentionally for certain fans Kawaki is taking a cue from Boruto's previous character. It will be fascinating to discover what direction Kawaki's fascination with the character leads him and in the end, he'll stand up to other legendary villains within Naruto. Narutofranchise.
