Luffy's Gear 5th, despite a disappointing first half to One Piece's hyped-up episode, still managed to break servers and websites.
The Gear 5th power-up that Luffy uses to bend reality has been revealed in the One Piece animated series. While the excitement of fans who rushed to watch it brought down many servers and websites the episode fell short of the expectations. The world had known for weeks that episode 1071 would be one of the most important moments in the series, but websites couldn't handle the number of viewers eager to see Luffy become Gear 5th.

Luffy's Gum-Gum Fruit awoke after his heartbeat returned. This was the result of him being defeated by Kaido a fourth and final time. The Five Elders of the World Government revealed in Episode #1071 that Luffy’s Devil Fruit was known by a different name to conceal its importance. It is the Mythical Zoan Type Human-Human Fruit Mythical Modell Nika which bears the legendary Sun God's name. Luffy's insanely powerful fruit grants him complete freedom and strength on the battlefield. As reported by the Library of Ohara, another Gear 5th special effect was the crashing of websites. This made it impossible for fans to view the latest Fifth Gear One Piece episode.
Sites crashed due to the large number of people trying to watch the Gear 5 debut
It's not easy to break the internet, but some monumental moments of entertainment can overwhelm websites with a flood of traffic. Internet anime fans have tried to compare the impact of Luffy’s new form with Goku’s Super Saiyan Transformation from Dragon Ball Z which was aired in 1991. Dragon Ball Super was the first to debut Goku's Ultra Instinct. The show's finale episode and Dragon Ball Super were also responsible for crashing popular anime streaming websites like Crunchyroll. While Luffy's awakening the Nika fruit was everything fans had hoped for the episode still fell short.
In the first half of Episode #1071, there are flashbacks to Kozuki Oden (Wano's righteous leader that Kaido killed) and Luffy's recent defeat. Fans have already seen these things and don't need a reminder. This episode reuses some animation sequences which is odd considering the high-quality animation One Piece fans have become accustomed to. The first half of One Piece#1071 was not as anticipated, considering the hype. The second half of this episode, however, is a fantastic rendition of one of the most important battles of the entire saga.

The second half of episode #1071 is a smorgasbord of over-the-top eye-popping animation and silly Looney-Toons-inspired sound effects that felt absolutely appropriate for Luffy's extremely cartoonish Gear 5th powers. The adaptation of Gear 5th, a cartoonish version of the One Piece manga, is in line the quality of recent One Piece animation. After the websites began working again, viewers were able to see the episode an hour after it aired. While episode #1071 of One Piece did not live up to the hype, the debut of Luffy’s Gear Fifth has already been one of the most popular anime moments.
