Eren kills his very first person at the age of 10 when he saves Mikasa. Soon after, Titans attack, and Eren's mother is eaten by a Titan in front of his eyes. Later, Eren learns that the Titan was his father's former first wife, Marley. Eren hates the Titans after this and vows to eliminate them. Eren's father injects the Titan serum into him, forcing him to eat his son (even though he won't remember this for a long time). Eren becomes one of the most vocal anti-Titans in the Survey Corps until he discovers that he too is a Titan. Eren also discovers that Bertholdt, Reiner, and other friends of his were, in fact, working for Marley and that they were the Titans responsible for the breaching of the wall, which ultimately led to his mother's death.
Eren Yeager’s Turn Into A Villain Is The Natural Outcome Of His Circumstances
Even the most resilient of people would be utterly devastated by these terrible circumstances, but Eren was not one. At least when he was younger, Eren relied on others to get him through, such as Mikasa. As he grew up, he began to see things differently. From his parents to his belief that fighting the Titans was a battle for all of humanity, he gradually lost faith in the aspects of his life. Eren's entire worldview was thrown upside down by this. He realized that neither Eldian, Marlian, nor himself had the moral high ground.
In this worldview, everyone is either a predator or a victim. Eren chose the natural choice, which was to protect his family in an absolute form of "survival-of-the-fittest". Eren was still unsure about his decision up until a certain point. However, no one else could really understand the situation. Eren appears to be seeking Mikasa's advice in an indirect way when he asks her "what he means to her". Many fans think that had Mikasa expressed her love for Eren at that moment, she could have prevented him from turning into a villain. However, the lack of clarity with her answer drove him even further towards his apocalyptic choice.
Eren did not feel any regret or guilt for his actions. He was convinced that he alone had the power to do what he needed to. Eren was a normal person who had been overwhelmed by his circumstances. He did not have anyone to help him analyze and identify alternative options to end the hatred the world felt towards the Eldians and to allow them to be accepted into the global community. While some may have thought that Eren's role as the villain in the Attack on Titan final was forced or unjustified in reality, it was a natural outcome of the circumstances Eren found himself in.
