One Piece is preparing an arc that will be very similar to the Marineford arc. Many fans believe this to be one of the most dramatic and best parts of the series.
The Final Saga One Piece is off to a good start. But it's about to get better with the repetition of Ace's execution in Marineford. Only this time, Luffy must race against time to rescue his grandfather Garp. Mangaka Eiichiro is fond of revisiting previous plots to explore them in new and exciting ways. It is only natural that he revisits the storyline that many fans consider the best before the series ends.
The battle between Blackbeard Pirates and Marines on Fullalead is brought to a shocking conclusion in chapter #1088, which was translated by Stephen Paul. The Navy has to flee leaving Garp behind. Garp was a powerful fighter, but the sheer number of opponents and the severe injury he received from Shiryu took its toll. Garp was able to defeat Aokiji in the earlier fight but the former Titanic Captain of Blackbeard’s crew recovered and speared Garp with ice to freeze him. Garp, in the hands of his enemies, is a fate that is ironically similar to what his grandson Ace experienced at Marineford.
One Piece is repeating Marineford with Garp instead of Ace
Ace was the son Gol D. Rodger and a Whitebeard Pirate, so when the World Government captured Ace they wanted to execute him in public. The World Government and various pirates fought to save Ace. Garp's arrest could result in a similar scenario. Blackbeard, knowing how important Garp is to the Navy will want to rid him publicly and the World Government may send its best forces to bring him back. Luffy, who failed to save Ace at Marineford, would also likely get involved.
A similar arc to Marineford, given the progress of the series, would be even more enjoyable. Marineford was great because it had all the major characters and factions that One Piece introduced clashing against each other. The clash between factions would be more epic because not only has the number of factions increased, but their average power level as well. If this new Marineford also has a similar tragic ending, with Garp dying like Ace, it could show Luffy that despite his newfound power of his reality-bending Gear Fifth there will always be people he cannot save.
One Piece's new take on Marineford will be even better than the first
Oda's writing has improved since he wrote Marineford, so is sure to have a better take. One Piece will revisit the Marineford Arc and hopefully, things will go differently this time. Luffy should be able to save Garp. Eiichiro is a writer who does not follow a script, so expect some awesome and tragic moments.
