Naruto Beating the Third Hokage Proves He Was Jonin-Level From the Start

Naruto was a ninja who could complete high-ranking missions right from the beginning, even though he wasn't a popular figure in Konoha.

Naruto may have been technically assigned a genin ranking throughout the series but the titular ninja was already a Jonin when the series started. Naruto's epic tale was concluded in the manga with a thrilling final battle with Sasuke. Naruto grew up to become Konoha’s Seventh Hokage. Naruto showed his cunning and infiltration skills when he defeated Konoha's Third Hokage.

Naruto is one of the most popular mangas in the world. Many know that the protagonist failed the final exam to be a ninja. Naruto, who was conned into believing that he is a ninja entry-level, proves his skills by breaking into the Hokage Mansion. Naruto defeated the strongest ninja in the village after the Third Hokage attacked him. Naruto used his cunning and Ninja Centerfold Jutsu to defeat the Third Hokage in a short time after failing his shadow clone.

Naruto completes a Jonin-level mission after failing to graduate

If the mission that Naruto completed was one assigned to a Shinobi from a rival village it would easily have been classified as a Jonin level task. Most important missions involving infiltration or assassination are rated A-rank. Only the most highly-skilled ninjas from Hatake Kakashi or Might Guy could be trusted to enter a village and find its main base, which is also home to the village's most respected ninja. Naruto achieved this mission in the first chapter of the series. He demonstrated skills more often associated with stealthy Shinobi than the orange jumpsuit-wearing failed Genin that others perceived him to be.

Naruto has shown his stealthy skills throughout the first chapters of the manga. Naruto ambushed Sasuke before he and Sasuke battled and outsmarted Zabuza, a Jonin-level assassin to save their teacher Kakashi. Naruto, in a playful attempt to be closer to Sakura, was able to sneak up and restrain the young ninja at the top of his class. Sasuke, while a long way from becoming the ninja powerhouse that he would become in the future, was still talented. His natural talent and the fact that he had the best grades in his class at Konoha Ninja Academy were two of the reasons why he was so gifted. Naruto still beat him in the third chapter of the series.

Naruto’s Sneaking and Cunning Skills were at a High Level from the Get-Go

Naruto was a Jonin-level shinobi even though he couldn't create a perfect double in the first chapter of the series. He had the ability to think quickly and infiltrate from an early age. As the series advances, characters and battles begin to rely more on destructive and flashy jutsu, rather than stealth and spying, which are traits usually associated with ninjas. Since many of Naruto's strongest jutsus have been secretly hinted at since the start of the series it is unlikely that the series will focus primarily on Naruto's transition from a vibrant and loud young ninja into the world's most stealthy shinobi. Naruto had the stealthy skills to become a Jonin-level ninja from the first chapter.
